THE RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

Check out the original post:
(Cherie Carter Scott and Fable Goodman)

When you were born, you didn’t come with an ‘owner’s manual’.
Cherie Carter-Scott created what she called “The Rules for Being Human”.
Many people have found these guidelines make life work better.
A lot of people have made their own amendments to the original version.
Here is the rule, changed a little by me. Very little actually. yes, enjoy it;

One: You will receive a body.

You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for as long as you live. How you take care of it or fail to take care of it can make an enormous difference to the quality of your life.

Two: You will be presented with lessons.

You are enrolled in a full time informal school called life. Each person, animal, object or occurrence can be your teacher. Each day, you will be presented with opportunities to learn what you need to know.

The lessons presented are often completely different from those you want, or think you need. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant or stupid.

It's your choice.

Three: there are no mistakes, only lessons.

Growth is a process of trial, error and experimentation. You can learn as much from failure as you can from success, maybe more!

(perhaps the only real mistake is to stop learning.)

Four: A lesson is repeated until it is learned.

A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it,
(as evidenced by a change in your attitude and behaviour) then you can go on to the next lesson.

Five: If you don’t learn easy lessons, they get harder.

External problems are a precise reflection of your internal state. When you clear inner obstructions, your outside world changes. Pain is one way the universe gets your attention.

Six: Learning lessons does not end.

There is no stage in life that does not contain some lessons. If you are alive, there are still lessons to be learned!
Learn till you die.

Seven: there is nothing better than “here”.

There is no time better than 'the now'. The only time you have power to choose path in your life is 'here and now'. not yesterday, not tomorrow.

Eight: You always get what you really want.

Your subconscious rightly determines what energies, experiences and people you attract. What the mind expect to happen tend to be realizes (Gerald Kein)Therefore the only foolproof way to know what you want, is to look at what you have.

Nine: You can get there from here!

A way exists... You personally can find it! Your life is up to you You have all the tools and resources you need.
What you create with those tools and resources, is up to you. Unless you change your direction, you may end up where you are headed.

Through desire, goal setting and unflagging effort, you can have anything you want. Persistence is the key to success. there are no victims; only students.

Take charge of your life (or somebody else will).

Ten: Others are merely mirrors of you.

You cannot love or hate something about another person, unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself. When tempted to criticise others, ask yourself why you feel so strongly. What you really love about a person is your perception about him, not him.

What you really hate about a person is your perception about him, not him.

Twelve: You don't have to cling to your goal to be successful

Set goal, make a plan, and forget about the goal. Just keep going for it without hoping for it to come to you.  Keep Persistence and eventually you will get there. Except you changed your direction.

Once an idea is accepted into your subconscious mind,  It stays there until it is replaced by another idea.

Thirteen: Problems become problems, when you choose it to be problem

You will face many situation when you are alive. You can't changed it But you can change how you respond to the event.  There is actually no such thing as good or bad situation. all of them are neutral. Good or bad comes from mind. You always have the power to choose how will you face it. As a challenge that help you grow or as a problem that stop you.

Who are you? (a question about self)

A man once asked me a very simple question "who are you?". And without thinking i answered with my name. "no... no... that's your name, i'm not asking for your name, i asked who are you?" Hearing that my mind stopped for awhile, i was thinking, who am i without my name. What if my parents give me another man instead, what if i'm born as a girl, will i be the same?

It's been many years since that event, i have forgoten about that event, about that question for so long. Until i started to take interest in exploring human mind. I remembered learning a little about an approach called ego state therapy from trainer named Antonius Arif. In the class i was awed by the fact that people are formed by many personality and every personality are formed by the information that the person get from the time they were born until now.

So our 'self' are simply the combination of many personality that we have, we probably have personality like 'a good husband', 'a good teacher', 'honest man. and some of our negative personality maybe something like 'easyt to get angry', 'control freak' and many other personalities combined together becoming what we call as 'self'.

And after learning that, a question come into my mind "who am i, without my personalities?". If self are combination of all those personalities, and those personalities comes from all information that get inside our subsconscious and stay there as a habit. Who am i without all those information? Who are you?

In buddhism, there are a concept called anatta or no-self. It means that there are no such thing as self. It also means that what we see, what we hear, and everything that we have are not ours therefore there is not our self. Self are created when we cling on those we hear, see and have. For example if we cling to our name, than we created a self.

"You must empty your minds of opinions, then you will see. Our practice goes beyond cleverness and beyond stupidity. If you think;"I am clever, I am wealthy, I am important, I understand all about Buddhism."; You cover up the truth of anatta or no-self. All you will see is self, I, mine. But Buddhism is letting go of self. Voidness, Emptiness, Nibbana." (Ajahn Chah)

Who are you? a simple question yet very hard to understand. Self as we have now are result of all information that goes to our subsconsious. I myself think that there is no such thing as 'true self'. However it just a conclusion that comes from my study in human mind and buddhism concept. How about your's? who are you?

Blindness by Anthony De Mello

"May I become your disciple"?

"You are only a disciple because your eyes are closed. The day you open them you will see there is nothing you can learn from me or anyone".

"What then is a Master for"?

"To make you see the uselessness of having one".

MORSEL:
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. -- Marcel Proust

The base on all hypnotherapy session is reframing said Yan Nurindra in his facebook status. Now i remember if i have to look at all of the session that i conducted, i realize that all therapy is about changing their point of view about something. In one of my session treating a traumatized client came to me lets call her Lusy, She has been traumized and cannot have a quality relationship with her friend. After a session with me which i put him into deep state and regress her back and change her point of view about the incident that happen. And it works like magic. She is having a good time now.

Sometimes dealing with a problem can mean to get away from the problem and look it from far away. I remember a simile from Ajahn Brahm. He said that most people can't deal with their problem because they are too close to the problem. It just like when we put our hand in front of our eyes. We can't see anything but the problem. But, if we just take our hand a little further from our eyes, we will now see more and eventually we can still see our hand. And when we can see the problem without getting emotional, without getting too close to the problem, It will be much easier for us to find the answer to the problem we have. In NLP we can also change the view of our problem by changing the word problem to challenge. When we see our situation as a challenge we will have more control of it, we will not easily depressed by that situation.

Some little addition for the blog

As from now on, i will publish article in two language, English and Indonesian since some of the visitor of this blog came from English speaking country. I decided to post some article in English and some in Indonesian. And i would like to say sorry if i have bad English, since English is not my first language, i will try to improve my english frequently. And i will also find some of my friend that is very fluent in both English and Hypnosis to post article here too.

The content will still be the same. I will rumble about hypnosis and its application in therapy and daily life and probably some inspirational story that i found during my work or reading.  It will be great to get feedback from people across the world.

Before going to real article i will introduce myself a little here. Since mostly i talk about hypnosis in this blog, you probably have know that i am a hypnotist. I first learn from Yan Nurindra (Indonesian Dean of Hypnotist) about probably 2 years ago. After that i took some distance learning with Hypnosis Motivation Institute and Gerald Kein from Omni Hypnosis Center and have been learning a little from Cal Banyan and many other great teacher. And have been working as therapist and trainer since.

I think i should stop talking about myself and start writing some new article to publish.
